The Stair Society

I was delighted to be given the opportunity to design and develop a new website for The Stair Society, which helps preserve and promote knowledge of Scotland's legal history.

The new site details the objectives and history of the Society, and features directories of all Society lectures and publications dating to its founding in 1934. The site also highlights Society news, details of membership and a library of resources, including a gallery of medieval legal manuscripts.

I applied a clear contemporary style to the site, using photography taken during a tour of Parliament House in Edinburgh. I sought to convey the scholarly aspect of the Society's identity through close up shots of law books, a simple but bold colour scheme of black, red and green, and the use of the evocative Skolar Web typeface.

The site is integrated with the ExpressionEngine content management system to allow Society members to add, edit and delete pages, entries and images as required. The site was designed using responsive web design techniques to ensure the layout adapts to different browsing devices.
